Dress code

  • Comfortable clothes
  • Comfortable shoes (no sandals or open shoes)
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses are not allowed when taking care of patients. It is common for law enforcement to use dark sunshades as an intimidation measure. It is our desire that all patients feel welcome and free of fear.

Safety Protocol

  • Don't be alone
  • If you need to use the bathroom, talk to the clinic personal on duty first
  • Do not receive or hold needles, each person needs to put them in the red RPBI container
  • Always wear gloves to examine patients
  • Consult doctors before making any interventions or prescriptions for medical treatment
  • If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask the appropiate person

Sign up and transportation

Please use the following email in order to register as a clinic volunteer:

This is important for the clinic organizers to anticipate needs and coordinate transportation.

The clinic is typically held the first Saturday of the month.

 

Trasportation:

From Los Angeles:

If you want to carpool from LA, indicate this in the email. Please coordinate with the LA volunteers in order to arrange carpool.

From San Diego:

-Please coordinate with the SD volunteers in order to travel with a group.

-Option to either drive or walk across the border:

  • If walking: SD students will typically park at either Beyer Station and take the tram to San Ysidro and walk across the border from there or will park by the outlet malls right by PedWest crossing and walk across the border from there.

 - Once you have crossed the border

  • If by foot-best option is to use Uber to arrive at Casa del Centro before the clinic in order to help with preparation of clinic materials.
  • You can use "Funeraria González" (Av Miguel F Martínez 958) in Google maps or Uber as the destination to find Casa del Centro. 

- PLEASE be sure to coordinate with Dr. Patty on how you will arrive so that we can anticipate the need for space in cars traveling to the Clinic sites from Casa del Centro.
